Satellite Chinese communities have emerged not through involuntary segregation but through ethnic real-estate networking (Chinese-speaking brokers for Chinese-speaking clients) and ethnic business clustering. The process has worked largely through language segregation: for Chinese immigrants, language has proved to be a compelling centripetal force.
